13 Days until Bowling Green (Friday the 13th.)

Forgot camera in room, not a good way to start the day. Late for service appointment, oh boy! Its going to be one of those days!

I was in and out of Murray Chevrolet in an hour, thanks guys!

Heading to Asheville and the Great Smokey Mountains. I did not feel I could come all this way and not drive through this part of the country.

It is spectacular! How could I be so lucky! There are few cars on the road, making the driving easy to be able to view the scenery. How could I be so lucky? (Oh yea, its Friday the 13th!) Well worth the extra miles. Hey, but what's a few more miles!

There are several tunnels and view points, all named. Each part of this country of ours is unique in its own way, this is really unique!

Heading out of the mountains I am in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Dolly Parton Country!

3 PM on a Friday afternoon and traffic is slow. I had planned on going into Knoxville, but seeing this traffic, I hit the interstate and head east on 40 then north on 81.

Seeing the signs for Bristol and only being 6 PM, I decide to stop and see the track. Of course its closed and after several U-turns, I am finally able to get a picture I am satisfied with.

I follow the signs into Bristol from the track. I did not know I was going to see all of Bristol. Stopping for gas and finally getting on the Interstate, I realize I am at mile post 7 and have missed the entrance to Virginia! Another U-turn and back to Tennessee. U-turn and officially in Virginia, State #35

Oh yea, "Radar Detection Devices are Illegal" I pull mine off the windshield.

The drive is beautiful with the setting sun, the mountains and clouds. I am able to make Wytheville as the sun sets.
