Montesano — Waiting
Z06 Still at Sea — Remapping the Rest of the Trip
Day 22 — the Z06 was on a cargo ship somewhere in the Pacific, returning from Anchorage. Ray was at his sister Carol's house in Montesano, waiting.
Day 22 was a waiting day.
The ALL50 Z06 was still at sea — on the cargo ship returning from Anchorage, Alaska, due to arrive in Tacoma the following day. Ray was at his sister Carol's house in Montesano, Washington, with nothing to do but wait.
He used the time well. The Alaska detour had taken longer than expected, and the remaining itinerary needed to be adjusted to ensure Ray could make it to Indianapolis by June 25 to join the 1,000-Corvette convoy to Bowling Green.
Ray spent the day remapping and rescheduling the rest of the trip — calculating distances, booking motels, and figuring out how to visit the remaining 37 states in the time available. The logistics of a 50-state road trip don't manage themselves.
The Logistics of 50 States
The ALL50 road trip was not a spontaneous adventure — it was a carefully planned operation that required constant adjustment. The Alaska leg had consumed more time than the original schedule allowed, and Ray needed to compress the remaining itinerary without cutting any states.
The deadline was firm: Indianapolis, June 25, for the start of the Indiana Caravan to Bowling Green. Everything else had to fit around that.
