Seaside to Redding
Coast Highway 101 — Incredible Vistas
Day 11 — one of the great drives in America: the California coast on Highway 101.
Day 11 was a Highway 101 day.
Coast Highway 101 along the California coast is one of the great drives in America — the Pacific Ocean on one side, the Santa Cruz Mountains and the redwoods on the other. The road winds through Big Sur, past Hearst Castle, through the wine country of the Central Coast, and up through the redwood forests of Humboldt County.
Ray called the vistas 'incredible.' They are.
From Seaside (near Monterey), north on 101 through the redwoods and into the Sacramento Valley, arriving in Redding for the night. Tomorrow: Oregon and the beginning of the Alaska logistics.
