Through Oregon — Alaska Prep Begins

Tuesday, May 6, 2003Redding, CA → Montesano, WA

Day 12 — a long drive north through Oregon to Washington State, where the Alaska logistics would begin.

Day 12 was a long drive north — from Redding, California through Oregon and into Washington State.

Oregon: the Pacific Northwest at its finest. Mount Shasta visible in the rearview mirror as Ray crossed the state line, then north through the Cascade Range, the Willamette Valley, and Portland before crossing the Columbia River into Washington.

Ray visited his sister Carol and her husband Steve in Montesano, Washington — a small town in the Chehalis River valley, about 90 miles south of Seattle.

Wednesday: drive to Tacoma to load the Z06 onto a container ship for its 56-hour boat ride to Alaska.
